KEYS TO THE 6IX
F.A.Qs
Q: What is the turnaround for duplicating a fob?
A: Normal cloning time takes approximately 5 minutes per copy from when we receive your original key. However, if you're sending your key to us, it will take us the same day to send out with Canada Xpresspost the key from the time we receive it.
Q: Is it legal to copy my key?
A: Having your electronic key copied is in the same domain as taking a physical key to a store and having a copy made. As long as you are the owner of your original key fob, you are the legal user of the copy. However, it is advisable to check with your building management, or landlord, as some units may specifically restrict electronic key fobs being duplicated.
Q: If my original key fob is deactivated, will my clone still work?
A: No. A cloned key carries an exact copy of the data on the original key. If your original key is deactivated, both keys will stop working. We will not be responsible for the copy not working based on the original fob being deactivated.
Q: Will you store any of the data after duplicating the fob?
A: Rest assured, your security is our top concern, and we will under no circumstance keep a copy of the programmed data. Unlike other international key fob duplication companies, there is no way for us to actually make another copy of a previously copied key fob, as our process automatically erases the data after each copy. Furthermore, you will never be asked to disclose any information related to what address or building the key fob is to be used at.
Q: Can you use the numbers on the back of my key and use those to duplicate it?
A: Unfortunately, the numbers printed on your key have no bearing on the electronic code it contains. Therefore, we will not be able to duplicate the fobs based on those numbers alone.
Q: Will my building's security staff realize I am using a cloned copy?
A: The cloned key will differ in appearance from the original key you were issued. If you show the physical key to security, they may notice it does not look like the standard one they issue. However, in the electronic access control system, the cloned copy will appears identical to the original.
Q: Can you clone every type of key fob?
A: We are able to clone almost every type of key fob on the market. Of course, if we cannot clone your fob, we will give you a full refund for the purchase price of the clone. Keys to the 6ix reserves the right to refuse any orders we feel fall under these circumstances (Offices, universities and colleges, and other key fobs that appear to be linked to financial accounts of any kind)
Q: Can you clone my remote portion of the fob?
A: Unfortunately we do not do remotes at this time.
Q: Do you offer volume discounts for small businesses?
A: Yes, and we would love to work with you. If you require more than 25 key fobs copied, send us an e-mail.
Q: Is there an agreement or order form that needs to be signed before the key fob cloning takes place?
A: Yes, please feel free to read over the document before booking an appointment. A copy will be provided at the time of our appointment, and any other questions will be answered before signing the agreement and providing us with the key fob.
Q: Do you provide installation services to small businesses looking for an automated access control system?
A: Unfortunately at this time, we are not providing these services. We only provide resources on the background related to the various considerations, configurations and price points for the components necessary to run such a system. However, for proximity reader systems, we do provide the service of duplicating RFID key fobs and access cards.
